Overall Reflection

Experience

Engaging in different assignments gave me the ability to explore many aspects of illustration. The Vormator Character project developed my character design skills, focusing on creativity within limitations. Composing a Pokémon card furthered my understanding of layout and thematic consistency. The Illustrated Typography Poster challenged me to merge text and imagery cohesively, while the webcomic adaptation of 'The Monkey's Paw' deepened my appreciation for sequential art and narrative pacing.

Observation

Through all these projects, I could see the development and feedback that needed to take place iteratively. Each critique brought new insights as to what could be improved and what worked well. I also realized the importance of research and gathering references to base my design decisions on authenticity and resonance.

Findings

I came to realize that storytelling in visual media is a sensitive balance between artistry and audience appeal. It is in efficient communication where clarity, composition, and emotional impact should find a balance. What I also found was that working outside my comfort area brought in experimentation and led to innovative solutions, with a more dynamic portfolio.

This module has helped me refine my illustration skills and further develop my understanding of visual narratives. The experiences, observations, and findings of each project have cumulatively prepared me for more complex creative challenges ahead.
