Poster Design

7 principles of poster design:

Emphasis: This principle focuses on making certain elements stand out to draw the viewer's attention. Techniques include using size, color, or placement.

Balance and alignment: This principle involves distributing elements evenly in a design to create a sense of stability. Balance can be symmetrical or asymmetrical.

Contrast: Contrast helps to highlight important elements by placing them against differing backgrounds or using varying colors, sizes, or shapes.

Repetition: Repetition reinforces a visual theme by using similar elements throughout a design. This can create consistency and cohesion.

Proportion: Proportion refers to the visual size and weight of elements in a composition and their relationship to one another. It's often helpful to break your design into sections rather than viewing it as a whole.

Movement: Movement guides the viewer's eye through a design. This can be achieved through directional lines, shapes, or the arrangement of elements.

White Space: Also known as negative space, this principle involves using empty space intentionally to enhance readability and focus on the main elements.

PROJECT 1B - PART 2: Recoloring Black and White

Exercise 1

For this exercise we will  have to recolor a B&W picture. First I created a new layer and rename it as face

I used the brush tool to apply skin color on the face layer.

After brushing skin color onto the face, I blended it using Soft Light

Then, I continue the above steps for eyes, lips, hair and other B&W parts.

For the background, I used the quick selection tool to select and mask out the portrait. After finishing masking, I added a new layer that was filled with solid color as the background. The mask out part was then inverted. After applying the blending option. The exercise is complete

Exercise 2

For this exercise we too have to recolor a B&W picture but we have to use a specific hair color and skin color. First,  I used the marquee tool to copy the picture of the skin tone and hair color to my workspace.

For the color selection, I used the eyedropper tool to pick the color out

After getting out the color, I started masking the hair out with quick selection tool. To make the selection more near to perfect. I used the refined edge brush tool to achieve it. The next step will be creating a new solid color layer which is the color of the required hair color. After blending the hair and the mask layer together ( I used Soft Light). The coloring of hair is completed

I continued the same process for the other B&W part - lips, eyes, accessories, teeth, etc.

After a few moments, I have finally completed the entire coloring exercise.
